Ranking the Flyers top 20 prospects using NHLE

Last year, I wrote about a method of evaluating prospects using NHL Equivalencies or NHLE. NHLE allows us to figure out the NHL equivalent of prospect’s performance outside of the NHL. This enables us to better compare prospects playing in various leagues where the level of play is often quite different. I decided to come up with a prospects ranking using NHLE as my guide. Flyers prospects make ESPN Insider’s top impact prospects

Grant Sonier, a former NHL scout, wrote a piece for ESPN Insider ranking the top 20 prospects most likely to have an impact for their NHL squads this season. The Flyers Matt Read and Sean Couturier made the list  while Brayden Schenn appears in the bonus section.  The interesting this is the only team that had more prospects mentioned than the Flyers is the Ottawa Senators with four which can be seen as both as a good and bad thing. Position: Center Shoots: Left Height: 6’0″ Weight: 194 lbs Birthdate: April 26, 1989 Age: 22 Hometown: Burketon, Ontario Acquired: Signed as free agent on March 4, 2010. 2005-2006 Pither’s Major Junior Hockey career begins with the Kingston Frontenacs of the OHL. It was a disappointing season for the former 4th overall pick from the OHL Priority Selection Draft. He ended the year with 13 points (4 g, 9 a) in 68 games.
