Penn State 2016 commit Kris Myllari is already turning heads

He won’t be in Happy Valley until the fall of 2016, but ’97 born defenseman Kris Myllari has the potential be a huge pick-up for Guy Gadowsky and the Nittany Lions. Myllari played with the prestigious Ottawa Senators Midget AAA program last year and had 25 points in 29 games played. The 6-foot-2, 185 pound rearguard currently plays for Kanata Stallions of the CCHL, where in 24 games he has two goals and 9 assists for 11 points. Myllari is smooth skating two-way defender, who never seems to be out of position. He can pass the puck with accuracy and …

Future Flyers Report: Comment on Gostisbehere, a look at The Subway Super Series

There has been a lot of interest in Philadelphia Flyers’ prospect Shayne Gostisbehere since the team picked him in the third round of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. This weekend may have created even more intrigue around the defenseman, as an opposing coach had some strong opinions on the blue liner. Gostisbehere, who was named ECAC’s Player of the Week, played well this weekend against RPI. According to SB Nation’s Jeff Cox, Seth Appert, RPI’s head coach, said after Saturday’s game that Gostisbehere,”is the best player in the country.” Now whether the coach said it in all honesty or to …

Phantoms Contributing From All Sides

Fifteen games into the season, the Adirondack Phantoms currently hold a 7-6-2 record as they await Friday’s matchup against the Binghamton Senators. Their record may not look like much, but six of those seven wins came during a recent six-game winning streak that ended on November 10th after a 3-2 loss to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. They’ve now lost two since that win streak, but they are showing some serious promise, thanks to contributions all throughout the roster. One would expect a team’s star players to score points, to lift the rest of the roster up when they’re struggling. Luckily …

2014 Draft Eligibles: Oshawa’s Dal Colle worthy of a top five selection come June

Back in September, before the OHL season began, I did a quick preview of the top ten OHL players who are NHL draft eligible this season. (You can view my rankings here.) Oshawa Generals center Michael Dal Colle ranked number two on my initial list behind Barrie Colts defender Aaron Ekblad. I still feel Ekblad is the best overall OHL prospect for the draft and will probably be a top 2 pick come June. However, my opinion on Dal Colle has changed. I thought he would be a mid-first round selection, but after an incredible start to the year, Dal …

Future Flyers Report: The later picks of 2013

Of the six draft picks the Philadelphia Flyers had in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, many fans know about Samuel Morin, Robert Hagg, and Tyrell Goulbourne. The hopes are that Morin and Hagg will be on the Flyers’ blue line for awhile starting in a few years, while Goulbourne is expected to be the second coming of Zac Rinaldo, whether that’s good news or bad news for the club. However, what about the final three picks in this year’s draft? With their fifth-round pick, the Orange and Black selected Terrance Amorosa, a 19-year-old left-handed defenseman who is 6’2″ and weighs …
