Crashing the Crease: Stick Discipline

This week, we’ve received the news that we’re likely looking at a lockout. This was great for me, as I really love the prospect of prolonged revenue sharing discussions.  I like hockey, don’t get me wrong, but I’m also pretty sure that the on-ice action isn’t why we’re all fans.  There’s actually very little doubt that an HBO 24/7 series chronicling the boardroom discussions leading to the pending shutdown of NHL hockey would rival the tension and entertainment value of an OT game in the Stanley Cup Finals, and I’m glad the league recognized this fact. Still, even with how …

Dazzlers and Duds: the most loved and hated Flyers of the past decade

CBA update: Olive branches, calm before the storm

On Wednesday evening, NHLPA executive director Donald Fehr stood before reporters in Toronto, to give a briefing on what occurred in morning meetings between he, Commissioner Gary Bettman, deputy commish Bill Daly and others. Flyers System Inventory: Goaltending

It’s the third and final installment of our system inventory. This week we close it out by looking at the goalies on the farm. As a reminder, we kicked it off by doing an inventory on the defense and followed it up last week with an inventory of forwards. AHL: Cal Heeter, 23, signed as free agent in 2012. 2011-2012: 32 games played 2.45 goals against average .918 save percentage Heeter was the starting goalie for the Ohio State Buckeyes over the previous two seasons. During that time, he was one of the CCHA’s top goalies despite playing behind a …
