(Photo by: Mark Selders GoPSUSports.com) What a weekend it was to be a Penn Stater! Hundreds of thousands of alumni (including myself) returned to State College last weekend for one of the most thoroughly entertaining homecoming weekends in recent memory. First, their was the time honored tradition of the homecoming parade Friday night. Thousands of alumni, students, and families decked from head to toe in their blue and white lined the streets of Penn State’s campus and College Ave. downtown to watch the decorated floats of different student organizations and Greek Life march on by. Second, while the parade was …

Op/Ed: Let’s Not Make “The Label” a Thing

The Flyers have now played four games underneath a new head coach. And yet, apparently, we’re still blaming Peter Laviolette for some of their issues. It might make sense if we’re talking about the mishandling of training camp, or his particular system, or something concrete. But no, according to one local sportswriter/analyst, Laviolette is at fault for the lackluster play of team captain Claude Giroux. Tye McGinn is making his case to stay on the Flyers’ roster, as he had both of the team’s tallies tonight in the loss. Steve Mason produced another …

Flyers, Doctors and Clergymen Baffled by Giroux Scoring Woes

6 games into the 2013-14 NHL season and Flyers captain, Claude Giroux, has only registered one assist. That is because he has forgotten how to score. Literally. “I, uh, get on the ice & uh… I feel like I’m missing something,” said Giroux after practice on Monday. “A what? goal?” Giroux said when asked if he forgot how to score a goal, “Goal? Goal? Goal? Goal? Go-al? Go-al? G-oal? Goa-l? I’m sorry, I just don’t understand that word.” The Flyers, eager and anxious to see their all- star center scoring again, have put together a team of Doctors, specialist, eastern …
