I’ve decided to take a more traditional look prospects this year instead of grading them with the help of NHLE because goalies and defenders are undervalued with NHLE. I decided to evaluate them mainly on three criteria: 1) NHL ceiling 2) Likelihood of reaching ceiling 3) Proximity to NHL “NHL ceiling” is essentially a prospect’s maximum potential, but not everyone reaches their ceiling. Laviolette gets contract extension

In yet another stealth, early-morning move, the Philadelphia Flyers extended the contract of head coach Peter Laviolette. “We are thrilled to have Peter continue his work with our group as we push to compete for the Stanley Cup,” Flyers GM Paul Holmgren said. “Peter has done a terrific job for us and is very deserving of this extension.” No terms of the deal were disclosed, but multiple reports stated that the pact is for two years, lasting through the 2014-15 campaign. Defenseman Luke Richardson joined the Philadelphia Flyers in the summer of 1997, as he signed a five-year contract where he earned $2.5 million in the first four years and $2.6 million in his final season.
