The Philadelphia Flyers had three draft picks in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft: Andreas Nodl, Michael Ratchuk, and Denis Bodrov. Both Ratchuk and Bodrov never played a game in the NHL, but Nodl turned out to be a serviceable player for Philly for a few seasons. Picked before a lengthy list of productive players later in the second round, such as Milan Lucic and Keith Seabrook, Nodl is struggling to make it in the NHL as a 26-year-old winger. In the middle of the 2002-2003 regular season, the Philadelphia Flyers shipped defenseman Bruno St. Jacques and winger Pavel Brendl to the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for a pair of players. Ryan Bast was one player Philly acquired in the deal, a defenseman who only played a pair of games in the NHL, both of which were with the Flyers.
