After spending parts of six seasons in the SM-liiga, Ville Leino became a member of the Detroit Red Wings’ organization for the 2008-2009 campaign. The forward spent time with the Tampereen Ilves, HPK, and Jokerit before he spent most of his first season with the Wings’ franchise in the AHL with the Grand Rapids Griffins. Leino saw regular season and postseason action for both the Griffins and Red Wings during 2008-2009, as he posted 46 points in 57 games with Grand Rapids and nine points in 13 tilts with Detroit. Konan made his debut in the Flyers’ 2-1 win on Thursday against the New York Islanders at the Wells Fargo Center. He had two hits and a blocked shot in 13:09 of ice time. The KHL playoffs start today, as 16 of the league’s 26 clubs compete for the Gagarin Cup. Goaltender Anthony Stolarz had a record of 2-5-0 and a save percentage under .900 with the University of Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks before he joined the London Knights of the OHL in early January. Marcel Noebels is the Trenton Titans’ lone representative at the 2013 ECHL All-Star Game, which will be a contest between the ECHL All-Stars and the Colorado Eagles on Wednesday, January 23 in Loveland, Colorado. The Philadelphia Flyers’ fourth-round selection in 2011 is one of nine rookies to be selected to this year’s All-Star squad.
