Flight Plan: Taking Off

The Philadelphia Flyers have now won two games in a row, both against divisional rivals in the New York Rangers and New York Islanders, and have finally lit the lamp more than two times in one game. More importantly perhaps, the team is finally healthy as Scott Hartnell and Vincent Lecavalier have both returned from injury. Lecavalier now has four goals and six points on the season, three of which came yesterday as he skated for the second game in a row with captain Claude Giroux and rookie Michael Raffl. Hockey Hilarity: Mother Tuckers

Friday funnies brought to you straight from hockey’s own players, media personnel, and broadcast botches. We’ll be mucking it up every week right here, examining puck ups, puns, tweets, and more! Today the winners of the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy, Frank J. Selke Trophy, King Clancy Memorial Trophy, Lady Byng Memorial Trophy, the Jack Adams Award, the Mark Messier NHL Leadership Award, the NHL Foundation Player Award and the General Manager of the Year …

The Washington Capitals were, as per usual, eliminated from the playoffs. Also, as per usual, Alex Ovechkin was not a factor. I realize that last week we did an Ovechkin thing, and as much as I shouldn’t rag on the guy because when he’s on, he’s one of the best players in the world, but there has been much talk about trying to deal him and what the Caps intend …

Hockey Hilarity: Ovechkin Unplugged

Friday funnies brought to you straight from hockey’s own players, media personnel, and broadcast botches. We’ll be mucking it up every week right here, examining puck ups, puns, tweets, and more! So maybe you’re watching the NHL Playoffs, maybe you’re not. Sometimes players score pretty goals. This was the case here as Derek Stepan of the New York Rangers potted a beauty against the Washington Capitals: Unfortunately on this play, Washington captain Alex Ovechkin was real lazy in “playing defense” and while he’s been pretty stellar over the second half of the season and decent in this series, this was pretty …
