Flyperbole: Rumor Time with Wayne Simmonds, Luke Schenn, Braydon Coburn

In the wake of the Max Talbot for Steve Downie trade, the rumor mill for the Flyers was working overtime. The team was losing and everyone expected Paul Holmgren to blow it all up. While it could certainly still happen, a lot of that talk has died down after the Flyers won 3 straight. That said, there’s still a lot going on.   OIL LEAK Darren Dreger tweeted that the Flyers turned down three 2nd round picks from the Edmonton Oilers for defenseman Braydon Coburn at the 2013 NHL Draft. There’s three basic mindsets here:   Good, Braydon Coburn is …

Game 17 Preview: Philadelphia Flyers @ Ottawa Senators

Philadelphia Flyers (5-10-1) @ Ottawa Senators (7-6-4), 7:30pm, CSN-Philly Tonight’s meeting with the Senators in Ottawa is an interesting one for several reasons. One reason being the anticipation of Claude Giroux’s first performance after scoring his first goal of the season. We all know about Giroux’s recent goal drought, so we’ll see how he performs tonight after he has the weight of the World lifted off his shoulders. Flyers’ Offense Comes to Life Against Edmonton, Leads Team to 4-2 Win Over Oilers

Claude Giroux finally busted out of his 15-game goal drought and the Flyers’ offense came to life against Edmonton, leading them to a 4-2 final against the Oilers on Saturday afternoon. Jay Rosehill, Scott Hartnell, and Vinny Lecavalier also scored for the orange & black, while David Perron and Taylor Hall got the tallies for Edmonton. The afternoon’s matchup pitted the NHL’s worst offensive team against its worst defensive team, which… didn’t sound promising for either side. However, the Flyers, who were held scoreless in their last game (Thursday at New Jersey), opened up the scoring first, with a nice …
