Minor League Update: 2/13-2/19

The Adirondack Phantoms won half of their games this week, as they ended their lengthy road losing streak in the process. After they went without a single road win in the months of December and January, the Phantoms finally earned a win away from home. Adirondack will try to climb back into the playoff picture this week, as they finish their four-game road trip before they return home on Sunday. Atlantic Watch: 2/8-2/14

The Flyers managed to hold on for a one-goal win Thursday before they dropped both of their games on the weekend to go 1-2-0 this week. The win was the Flyers’ second since the All-Star break, as they are 2-4-2 since the break with both wins coming at home. Philly looks forward to two games against Eastern Conference teams outside the playoff picture in the next few days, as well as a meeting with the Penguins to determine crucial points in the standings. The Phantoms continue to struggle, as they dropped their pair of games this week to extend their losing streak to three games. Adirondack has only won one out of their last nine games and are currently on an eight-game losing streak away from the Glens Falls Civic Center. They will have a chance to end both skids with three away games and four games overall in the next seven days. The Phantoms ended their five-game losing streak this week, as they went 1-1-0 in a pair of games in Adirondack. Despite a win in their first game of the week, the Phantoms lost their second game to drop their record to 2-7-0 in their last nine games. Adirondack is looking for a pair of wins in the upcoming week, as they play the team they beat this week twice on the road. In their only game this week, the Flyers took part in yet another shootout. Unfortunately for Philly, it was unable to pull out a win. The Orange and Black did, however, keep up with the Rangers, who also lost in a shootout this week. The Flyers look forward to a difficult week ahead, as three of their four opponents are currently in the playoff picture. For a third time this season, the Flyers lost to the Winnipeg Jets. The Flyers went 2-1-1 in a week that featured a lot of ups and downs for the guys in Orange and Black. After a week that featured a loss to the Islanders, a Scott Hartnell record a natural hat trick, and their first shootout win of the season, the Flyers are still trailing the Rangers for the top spot in the division. After Sergei Bobrovsky earned the start on Thursday night on Long Island, Ilya Bryzgalov got the call for the last two games of the week making 46 saves on 50 shots against. The Phantoms won both of their games this week and are inching their way to the top of the standings. The pair of victories marked the first time the Phantoms had won back-to-back games in regulation since their wins against the Syracuse Crunch (the Anaheim Ducks’ AHL affiliate) on November 30th and the Norfolk Admirals (the Tampa Bay Lightning AHL affiliate) on December 2nd. Bobrovsky, Rookies Lead Flyers Past Hurricanes

Sergei Bobrovsky made 35 saves tonight as he helped the Flyers to a 2-1 victory on the road against the Carolina Hurricanes. Sean Couturier provided the game-winner early in the third period, while Brayden Schenn scored in the second period for the Flyers as Philly earned their third win of the season against the Hurricanes. The victory was also the 100th for Peter Laviolette as head coach of Philadelphia, joining Fred Shero, Pat Quinn, Bob McCammon, Mike Keenan, Paul Holmgren, Terry Murray, Ken Hitchcock and John Stevens in that elite group.
