Captain Claude leads, Bryzgalov gets ShO as Flyers rout Islanders, 7-0

Claude Giroux backed up his words after the loss on Saturday, as he led the Philadelphia Flyers to an emphatic 7-0 win against the New York Islanders at Nassau Coliseum on Monday afternoon. The captain, who ripped his teammates for their effort in the wake of listless back-to-back road losses at New Jersey and Montreal, posted two goals and an assist, while he also set the tone early with hustle and physicality. Danny Briere recorded the same stat line and Matt Read had a three-point performance with a goal and two helpers. Jakub Voracek produced a career-high four-assist game, while Ilya Bryzgalov …

Flight Plan: Atlantic Away Southeast at Home

The Philadelphia Flyers have just one win through four games of a six game road trip. To say that the Flyers aren’t very good on the road is an understatement at this point, as they have the worst record in the NHL away from home at 2-8-0. They’ve also been away more than any team in the Eastern Conference, so there is some comfort in that at least, that they will eventually get even this schedule out with some games within the familiar confines of the Wells Fargo Center. Flyers Miss Opportunities, Lose 4-1 in Montreal

The Philadelphia Flyers were never really in the game tonight, as they fell to the Montreal Canadiens at the Bell Centre by the score of 4-1. Stepping in for the ill Carey Price, Peter Budaj wasn’t asked to do much, but he did stop 18 of the Flyers’ 19 shots on net for his first win in 2013. “It feels great. Our team played a great defensive game and …

Clarkson Caps Off Devils’ Comeback, Flyers Lose 5-3 in Jersey

The Philadelphia Flyers learned tonight that it’s not how you start, it’s how you finish, as they blew a two-goal lead to lose 5-3 to the New Jersey Devils tonight on the road. David Clarkson provided the game-winner for the hosts halfway through the third period, as the Devils scored four unanswered goals to win for the fifth time in their last six games. Ilya Kovalchuk recorded three assists, while Patrik Elias had a goal and two assists in the win. Martin Brodeur stopped 25 of Philly’s 28 shots and added on an assist, as Ilya Bryzgalov denied 14 of …
