Giroux Showing Improvement in the Faceoff Circle

At one point in early April, Claude Giroux strung together a fairly dominant 10 games in the faceoff circle, winning just under 60 percent of his draws over that span. After posting seasons of 49.5% and 50% in his first 2 full seasons in the NHL, it got me wondering if he was on his way to a tangible, sustainable improvement. One of the things I admire about Sidney Crosby is that he entered the league quite poor in the faceoff department, at roughly 45%. He then worked at it and now normally comes in at a good 55-56%. Flyers’ season ends with 3-1 loss at home

Although they came out with more energy and effort, the Philadelphia Flyers fell to the Devils for a fourth straight game with a 3-1 defeat at the Wells Fargo Center tonight in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals, ending one of the most interesting playoffs in recent memory. New Jersey now awaits the winner of the Rangers/Caps series and will begin the Eastern Conference Finals some time next week. Peter DeBoer’s club reached the third round for the first time since 2003, when the Devils won the last of their three Stanley Cups. The head coach echoed some key …
