Atlantic Watch: 2/1-2/7

After a dominant victory on Thursday against one of the hotter teams in the league, the Flyers proceeded to drop their next handful of games to suffer their first three-game losing streak of the season. Poor starts and poor goaltending hurt the Flyers over the weekend, as the only other point they gained this week was from last night’s shootout loss. Hopefully for Philly, their play turns around, as they face three tough opponents over the next seven days. On Thursday, the Flyers handed the Nashville Predators a 4-1 loss in Philadelphia. Matt Read had the game-winner in the second …

The Adirondack Phantoms could only notch one win this week despite taking part in four contests, as they went 1-1-0 at home and 0-2-0 on the road. The one win and three losses this week moved the Phantoms to 4-5-0 for the month of January, while they are two points out of first place in the Northeast Division with a game in hand on the division leading Connecticut Whale (New York Rangers’ AHL affiliate). The Phantoms won both of their games this week and are inching their way to the top of the standings. Atlantic Watch: 1/4-1/10

The Flyers won three of their four games this week, as all three wins came in one-goal games. In the Flyers’ last three games, they have received no help from the line of Claude Giroux, Scott Hartnell, and Jaromir Jagr as all three players are pointless since the Flyers’ win on Thursday. The line will look to find their groove again as the Flyers complete their four-game road trip this week before returning home for a game against the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday.  In their first match-up in Philadelphia since Game six of the 2010 Stanley Cup Finals, the Flyers beat …

The Adirondack Phantoms may have lost two of their three games this week, but their lone win will be their most memorable victory all season long. Atlantic Watch: 12/28-1/3

The Flyers went 1-1-0 in their two games this past week – losing the much anticipated Winter Classic on Monday afternoon to the New York Rangers. Due to Ilya Bryzgalov’s recent struggles in net, Sergei Bobrovsky earned both starts this week stopping 54 of the 59 shots he faced. Philly, which has dropped five of their last seven games, looks to turn things around this week against the Chicago Blackhawks and Ottawa Senators. The Orange and Black continued their dominance over the Pittsburgh Penguins in the CONSOL Energy Center with a 4-2 victory on Thursday night. Matt Read earned his third …

Minor League Update: 12/24-12/31

To finish off 2011, the Adirondack Phantoms closed out their rough December with a 2-1-0 week.
