Future Flyers Report: Zolnierczyk and Gustafsson in the NHL

During the 2011-2012 campaign, the tandem of Harry Zolnierczyk and Erik Gustafsson saw their fair share of action with the Philadelphia Flyers. The pair, who are both in the top six for points with the Adirondack Phantoms this season, each played a game for the Orange and Black over the last several days, as the two participated in at least 30 contests last season. Zolnierczyk suited up for the Flyers in their 3-2 win against the Winnipeg Jets at the MTS Centre on Tuesday. Harry Z had two shots on net, two hits, and two blocked shots in 9:50 TOI, as …

Adirondack (19-24-3) had something to prove after a week of drama on and off the ice including a loss at Syracuse on Friday night. Goals by Erik Gustafsson, Matt Mangene, Jeff Dimmen and David Laliberte  chased starter Riku Helenius out of the net after two periods, while Cullen Eddy and Laliberte tallied in …

Flyers vs. Hurricanes: A brief first period assessment

The first period of tonight’s game was sloppy, fast paced, and loaded with ups and downs. Here are some noteworthy items: The defensemen are playing terrible defensively but they are also jumping into the play, generating offense and scoring goals. Obviously, there needs to be more balance here but, if the defense can spark the forwards, less pressure will be put on the defense and it will all work out in the long run. Jake Voracek had his strongest period of the season. If the Flyers are to turn this season around, he needs to be a big part of …
