Team Germany has only one point so far, while Slovakia has six points. Czech Republic-Switzerland 2-5 Voracek 0+1, 19:18 TOI, -2 Team Czech Republic lost the second straight game when they couldn’t beat the red-hot Switzerland. Day three of the IIHF World Championships: France-Austria 3-1 Team France started very well leading by two goals just five minutes into the first period. They added one more in the second period and Austria was only able to manage one goal. Belarus-Slovenia 4-3 Team Belarus won 4-3 after losing their first game to the Czech Republic. Alexei Ugarov scored the game-winning goal with four minutes remaining in the third period. Russia-Germany 4-1 Noebels – healthy scratch Bryzgalov – healthy scratch Team Russia beat Germany 4-1 winning their 12th straight (including the last World Championships). The Flyers Season In Review: The Good

The Flyers season is over. We fans went on a long ride through a short amount of time. 48 games in fewer than 100 days. Blood, sweat, tears, injuries and fatigue plagued this 2013 Flyers team from the start of the season. But, let’s not forget, the Flyers gave us plenty of memories from this year. On Tuesday night, Oliver Lauridsen’s first NHL goal came courtesy of a huge mistake made by Boston’s Zdeno Chara. This time, Lauridsen’s goal was all his own as he notched the game winner in a 2-1 victory over the New York Islanders. Ilya Bryzgalov got the win for the Flyers making 21 saves. Kevin Poulin took the loss for the Islanders making 28 saves of his own. In a pre-game ceremony held before the Philadelphia Flyers and New York Islanders on Thursday night, the organization handed out its annual team awards. Read on to learn which players received MVP honors, the award for best defenseman, and the most improved player award, among others. With a little help from an unexpected source, the Philadelphia Flyers won 5-2 over the Boston Bruins on Tuesday night, their second strong effort in a row — despite being out of playoff contention. Oliver Lauridsen scored his first NHL goal 11:31 into the second period, with some help from Boston’s Zdeno Chara. Lauridsen dumped the puck into the Bruins’ end, where Chara attempted to throw it back around the boards. Simmonds’ hat trick powers Flyers past Hurricanes in Carolina

The Philadelphia Flyers were able to post a win in their first game since knowing they were eliminated from playoff contention, as they beat the Carolina Hurricanes 5-3 on the road tonight. Wayne Simmonds recorded his first career hat trick and added on an assist, while Matt Read had a goal and two assists in the win. Steve Mason earned the decision in the high-scoring affair, as he denied 26 of the Hurricanes’ 29 shots on net. The Philadelphia Flyers dropped a 3-0 contest to the New Jersey Devils tonight at the Wells Fargo Center. Ryan Carter, Matt D’Agostini, and Adam Henrique had the goals for Jersey in the win, while Martin Brodeur posted a 23-save shutout to end the Devils’ 10-game losing streak and hand New Jersey their first win in April.
