The Philadelphia Flyers went 1-1-1 last week with a disappointing loss to the Ottawa Senators in the shootout, an embarrassing 7-0 loss to end their six-game road trip a the hands of the Chicago Blackhawks, and an impressive 2-1 win over the Montreal Canadiens. The win was another game in which the Flyers scored just two goals. They have now scored two or fewer goals in 24 of their 32 total contests. Caps Make Flyers Tap; Lose 7-0

Nicklas Backstrom scored his first goal for the Capitals at the 17:28 mark of the first period to give the Caps an insurmountable 1-0 lead. The Capitals would go on to win 7-0. Backstrom finished the night with two goals and an assist. Joel Ward recorded a hat trick and an assist for Capitals as Mikhail Grabovski had three assists. The other goal scorers for the Caps were Jason Chimera and Troy Brouwer. Goaltender Braden Holtby faced little pressure all night, stopping all 30 shots he faced for the shutout.
