We’ve compiled the responses for both the Loved and Hated categories, and seeded them according to our whims and wishes. What you see before you is the result of our efforts. While we may …

The Young and the Restless

Call me crazy, but I love what the Flyers are doing. With the exception of not signing Shea Weber, I’m very happy the Flyers did not sign Ryan Suter or Zach Parise. I’m content – no, I’m ecstatic that the Flyers have decided to use their excess money to lock up the core of their team. The latest beneficiary of the Flyers’ decision to keep their money within their team was signing power forward Wayne Simmonds to a six-year, $23 million extension. The Flyers have once again paid a handsome fee for talent and potential. As we’ve seen in the past …

Is it Giroux's time to be captain?

Point/Counterpoint: Is it Giroux’s time to be captain?

Welcome to another edition of Point/Counterpoint, where a pair of Flyers Faithful scribes square off, debating an issue with their own unique style and flair. This week, Kim P and Craig F discuss the possibility of the Flyers naming Claude Giroux their new captain. Point: Kim P. If the chatter surrounding the Flyers isn’t about their goaltending issues, it’s something about the captaincy. As of right now, Chris Pronger is still the official team captain. But it doesn’t look like he’ll be returning, still recovering from the after-effects of  a gruesome injury suffered last October, and the Flyers world is abuzz over who will …

couts draft

Will the rockets’ orange glare appear at the draft?

With the draft quickly approaching many Flyers fans are wondering when the first domino will fall; and what exactly will start the chain reaction. The draft is often considered either the last official act of the previous season or the first one of the new year, and the Flyers are no exception to treating it as an important time-frame. Since Paul Holmgren took over as general manager, the Flyers have made at least two moves each year at the draft, or during the week leading up to it. Date Sent Team Received 6/23/2011 Jeff Carter Columbus Blue Jackets Jakub Voracek, …

(Final) Flyers West Update: The Future is Bright, Flyers Fans

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know by now that the Los Angeles Kings are Stanley Cup Champions. And unless you’ve been living under two rocks, you know that two of the guys who got to hoist the Cup on Monday night were Mike Richards and Jeff Carter — former Philadelphia Flyers who were traded away a little under a year ago. A lot has been said about what their Stanley Cup victory means to the Flyers. It’s left a bitter taste in some mouths, while others still believe that the trades were for the best and the …

Flyers West Update: Kings of the League At Last

The Los Angeles Kings are Stanley Cup Champions. Take that all in. Absorb it. They were the Cinderella story of these playoffs as the eighth seed in the Western Conference. One by one, they took down the top teams in the conference, and did so in stunning fashion. Thanks to absolutely phenomenal goaltending from Conn Smythe Trophy winner Jonathan Quick and outstanding performances from captain Dustin Brown and alternate Anze Kopitar, the Kings were a dominant team throughout the playoffs. And in the Stanley Cup Final against the New Jersey Devils, behind near-hat tricks from Brown, Jeff Carter, and Matt …

Coping with a Long-Cupless City

Are you tired of hearing about Flyers West yet? Too bad!  It’s frankly the only thing we can write about at this point, unless you’re clamoring for a piece on how good Claude Giroux is at drinking games (hint: this is the wrong site for that sort of news). So here we are again, on the verge of watching former beloved members of the Orange and Black holding the Stanley Cup.  It’s happened before and it will happen again. The LA Kings are the new Carolina Hurricanes: a team featuring former prominent Flyers that you really don’t mind seeing win …
