Fake Hockey Help: Star goalies return, Horton and Doan return to action

Although it might be considered the year of the backup netminder, a lot of franchise goaltenders returned to action this week. The group of Corey Crawford, Jonathan Quick, and Jimmy Howard all made their way back to the blue paint. How does this impact your fantasy team? In Chicago and Los Angeles, both Crawford and Quick are back in action. Since both players are owned in 100 percent of ESPN leagues, it’s not a matter of picking them up, but if it’s worth keeping their backups. For Crawford, his numbers haven’t been the best, but he will definitely be the …

Fake Hockey Help: Howard’s struggles, Ryan Johansen’s production, Sean Couturier’s offensive burst

As Philadelphia Flyers’ fans saw on Wednesday night, Jimmy Howard hasn’t been at the top of his game lately. Before he allowed five goals on 33 shots against to the Orange and Black, Howard was able to provide a 29-save shutout against the lowly New York Islanders. However, the candidate for the American Olympic team endured a seven-game losing streak where he allowed four goals against or more three times and allowed three goals against or more an additional two times. Game 28 Preview: Philadelphia Flyers @ Detroit Red Wings

Philadelphia Flyers (12-13-2) @ Detroit Red Wings (14-7-7), 8:00pm, NBCSN After suffering an offensively embarrassing loss on Monday and running into problems the team had earlier in the season, the Philadelphia Flyers hope to return to the win column tonight on the road against the Detroit Red Wings. Philly has won two of their last three, but the last two games haven’t been pretty for the Orange and Black, as they’ve failed to create many scoring chances. Hopefully for the Flyers and their faithful a mix of desperation and injuries can lead to two points. The team responded well on …

Flight Plan: Wheels Up

In this writer’s opinion, the Philadelphia Flyers blew it last week. The team had three games which they should have won, one of which they could have grabbed a point in, and garnered just four points to their names and worse, they scored just seven goals in the process. To come out the way they did against the lowly Florida Panthers, is just unacceptable. To need overtime and the shootout to win a game against the Nashville Predators is similarly unacceptable. This team is far too reliant on Ray Emery and Steve Mason to keep games within reach. They can’t …
