Frequent Flyer Miles: Camp Movement, Hedberg trying out with Rangers, Pitkanen out for 2013-2014

Several of the moves involving former Philadelphia Flyers and Flyers’ draft picks this week relate to NHL training camps taking shape. In addition to a Professional Try-Out for Hal Gill, the drama surrounding Daniel Cleary, and an entry-level contract handed out to Taylor Leier, a pair of goaltenders once linked to the Orange and Black are involved with other NHL clubs. Then and Now: Martin Biron

Four goaltenders were picked in the first round of the 1995 NHL Draft. Two of those goalies, J.S. Giguere and Marc Denis, never played for the Philadelphia Flyers. The other two went on to serve as the starting goaltender for Philly at one point in their careers. One of those goaltenders was Brian Boucher. The other goalie was Martin Biron. Picked 16th overall by the Buffalo Sabres, Biron went on to see part-time duty for the organization between the seasons of 1995-1996 and 1998-1999. In 1999-2000, Biron suited up in 41 games for the Sabres during the regular season, but …

The skater was picked 16th overall in the 2001 NHL Draft by the Vancouver Canucks, as he was the first American forward to be selected. Mike Komisarek was the first American picked by the Montreal Canadiens with the …

Flight Plan: Seven Games Left

The Philadelphia Flyers have seven games remaining in their 2013 season. Yesterday they lost to the Buffalo Sabres by a score of 1-0. They are not technically mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, but they will be this week with relative ease. Even if they win out, the Flyers would need all of the teams above them to lose just about every game. Four of the seven games on Philadelphia’s docket are this week against the Montreal Canadiens, the New York Rangers, the New Jersey Devils, and the Carolina Hurricanes. You can purchase tickets to all Flyers games here: http://www.tiqiq.com/nhl/philadelphia-flyers-tickets/?publisherid=1260333 Danny Briere …
