Fake Hockey Help: Two players to pick up from both the Hurricanes and the Bolts

For several years now, Cam Ward has been the starting goaltender for the Carolina Hurricanes. This season however, thanks to injuries and poor play from Ward, both Justin Peters and Anton Khudobin have taken their turns as being the team’s starter. With Ward still on Injured Reserve and Peters not seeing the ice since December 27th, Khudobin has taken over for the Hurricanes. After backing up Tuukka Rask last season with the Boston Bruins, Khudobin has shown that he can play well in the NHL. With six wins in eight starts this season, Khudobin has a 1.99 GAA and a …

Flight Plan: Home After the Holidays

Last week, the Philadelphia Flyers won three of their four games. Their wins came against the Vancouver Canucks via the shootout, the Calgary Flames, and the Phoenix Coyotes. The lone loss came against the Colorado Avalanche in a game where the puck just wouldn’t go for them and Semyon Varlamov was marvelous. On top of the well-known injury to Steven Stamkos, Tampa Bay will be without starting goalie Ben Bishop …

Flight Plan: Turning It Around

It’s a pretty impressive little run they’ve been on, but what’s also refreshing is that they are starting to score goals at a more consistent pace. They’ve scored more than two goals on six occasions now for the season, which is a feat they accomplished just once through …

Some of the NHL's Awards were given out tonight, the rest will be awarded tomorrow night before Game two of the Stanley Cup Finals.

NHL Announces 11 Award Winners

The National Hockey League announced some of the winners of this year’s awards today. In a slightly different setting than the past few years, they did so in a low-key panel show starting at 5:00 PM on the NHL Network.  In previous years, they had a large show in Las Vegas that felt more like the Grammy’s. Today the winners of the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy, Frank J. Selke Trophy, King Clancy Memorial Trophy, Lady Byng Memorial Trophy, the Jack Adams Award, the Mark Messier NHL Leadership Award, the NHL Foundation Player Award and the General Manager of the Year …
