First off, kudos to everyone who covered the draft live last night. People may joke every time a tweet pops up about a GM working the phones but those reporters worked their butts off last night. Many players will be remembered for their leadership, whether or not they could perform in the clutch, or if there were unique aspects to their game. For Eric Weinrich, he’ll most likely be remembered for a piece of equipment. The former Flyers’ defenseman that sported a yellow visor throughout his career went on to play for five different teams after his stay in Philly and is currently a scout for another NHL club. In judging Ilya Bryzgalov’s, um… interesting (?) job in net so far through this playoff run, I ran across the assessment of “I’d rank him Leighton” (h/t to our own Jim Hasson). The Adirondack Phantoms finished 10th in the Eastern Conference for the 2011-2012 regular season, as the club missed a playoff berth by five points. As they headed into the final week of the campaign with an outside chance to make the postseason, the Phantoms dropped two of their final three tilts to miss an opportunity to win the Calder Cup.
