  With the draft a little over 24 hours away, the rumor mill has begun to churn at full pace.  General Managers are getting a feeling of who is available and for what price.  Over the next 24 hours leading up to the draft you can fully expect the rumors to come in at an unbelievable rate.  Teams will be desperately trying to get cap compliant since it will be dropping from 70.2 million to 64.3 million this year as well.  This is only the beginning, but we have some interesting rumors already hitting the twittersphere. 2013 NHL Entry Draft: Updated (6/28) Mock Draft Two

In my final mock draft the largest change is found at the top. With the speculation coming out of Denver that the Avalanche will take a forward with the first overall pick I have promotes Finnish sensation, Aleksander Barkov to the top spot. Seth Jones falls to Florida at second overall. Nathan MacKinnon stays at three and Jonathan Drouin drops to Nashville at four. Curtis Lazar makes his first appearance in my mock drafts, dropping Nic Petan out of the top 30. Steven Santini also hops back in at 30th overall going to the defending Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks. …

Frequent Flyer Miles: Jagr out of Boston, Harry Z to Pittsburgh, Ellison to NLA

A few former Philadelphia Flyers, as well as one Adirondack Phantom, were either released from their current team or found a new home for next season this week. Jaromir Jagr learned he won’t be a Boston Bruin next year, while the tandem of Harry Zolnierczyk and Matt Ellison changed clubs for the 2013-2014 season. On top of that, former Phantom Michael Ryan also switched clubs. After being traded to the Boston Bruins at the trade deadline by the Dallas Stars, Jagr helped the Bruins reach Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals before the squad bowed out to the Chicago …

Then and Now: Johan Backlund

After spending three seasons with Timra IK in the SEL, now the SHL, Johan Backlund signed a one-year deal with the Philadelphia Flyers’ organization in the summer of 2009. The deal gave the undrafted goaltender $100,000 in the AHL and $800,000 in the NHL. In his first campaign in North American leagues, Backlund took part in 41 AHL games with the Adirondack Phantoms, as well as a pair of games for the Orange and Black.
