Flyers, Giroux talk contract extension

According to TSN.com, the Philadelphia Flyers have begun preliminary discussions with Claude Giroux in order to extend his contract. Details are slim, but we know that currently the Flyers are over the salary cap as of right now.  As well as the fact that the team has just acquired defenseman Mark Streit from the New York Islanders.  Streit will also need a new contract, further pushing the issue of the salary cap. Four goaltenders were picked in the first round of the 1995 NHL Draft. Two of those goalies, J.S. Giguere and Marc Denis, never played for the Philadelphia Flyers.
