Flyers Faithful Christmas List 2013

I asked the Flyers Faithful staff what they wanted for Christmas. All they got was some cheap lottery tickets and a few mints that I had lying around in my coat pockets. But, here’s their list anyway:   Marcello De Feo (Flyers Faithful Founder, Fan of Alliteration) Back in 2010, when Flyers Faithful created its first Christmas wish list, I wanted nothing more than to see the healthy, triumphant return of Ian Laperriere. Three years later, I find myself wanting something similar. It has been over two years since the last time Chris Pronger played a game and it remains …

Blackhawks walk all over Flyers, Philly loses 7-2 in Chicago

As we all expected, the Chicago Blackhawks dominated the Philadelphia Flyers tonight, as the hosts handed the visitors a 7-2 loss. Patrick Sharp and Marian Hossa had three-point nights, while the trio of Kris Versteeg, Michal Handzus, and Patrick Kane posted two-point games. Antti Raanta had the simple task of standing in net for Chicago, as he stopped 28 of the 30 shots Philly threw at him. For the Orange and Black, Jakub Voracek and Steve Downie scored, while Ray Emery allowed six goals on 18 shots against. Steve Mason allowed one goal on five shots in 18:55 of relief …

Game 31 Preview: Philadelphia Flyers @ Chicago Blackhawks

Philadelphia Flyers (13-14-3) @ Chicago Blackhawks (22-6-5), 8:00pm, NBCSN/TSN2 The Philadelphia Flyers will look to end their two-game losing streak tonight, but it’s not going to be an easy task, as they conclude their road trip against the Chicago Blackhawks. With a record of 2-2-1 so far on their road trip, a win tonight would not only put the Orange and Black over .500 for the stretch away from the Wells Fargo Center, but two points would put Philly at .500 overall. However, is it likely a road win against the defending Stanley Cup champions happens tonight in Chicago? The …

Flight Plan: Rough Skies Ahead

The Philadelphia Flyers are four games into their six-game road trip and are 2-2-0. This past week they were 1-2-0, beating the Detroit Red Wings by a score of 6-3, but losing to the Minnesota Wild, 2-0, and getting shellacked by the Dallas Stars, 5-1. Steve Mason allowed more than three goals for the first time since coming over to Philadelphia late last season, but through no fault of his own. The Stars’ top line of Jamie Benn, Valeri Nichushkin, and Tyler Seguin was dominant. Seguin scored a natural hat trick as the three players combined for a total of …

Mason leads Flyers to 3-2 shootout decision over the Predators in Nashville

Steve Mason is usually one of the best players for the Philadelphia Flyers game in and game out, but Philly’s goaltender was extremely strong tonight in the Flyers’ 3-2 shootout win on the road against the Nashville Predators. Mason denied 34 of the Preds’ 36 shots in regulation and overtime before he made a pair of superb saves in the shootout to grab Philly the additional point. Vincent Lecavalier was the lone skater to convert in the shootout, while Claude Giroux and Sean Couturier beat Marek Mazanec in regulation. Mike Fisher and Colin Wilson had Nashville’s goals in the shootout …
