After putting themselves in a very big hole, the Philadelphia Flyers ended this week with two emphatic wins to show that they could be a playoff team. It might be too little too late, but the Orange and Black will carry their two-game winning streak into their upcoming seven-day stretch. Philly started the week with a 3-1 loss at home to the Ottawa Senators. Colin Greening put home the decisive tally with 5:36 remaining, as Robin Lehner made 24 stops in the win. Flight Plan: Seven Games Left

The Philadelphia Flyers have seven games remaining in their 2013 season. Yesterday they lost to the Buffalo Sabres by a score of 1-0. They are not technically mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, but they will be this week with relative ease. Even if they win out, the Flyers would need all of the teams above them to lose just about every game. Four of the seven games on Philadelphia’s docket are this week against the Montreal Canadiens, the New York Rangers, the New Jersey Devils, and the Carolina Hurricanes. The Philadelphia Flyers entered this week on a winning streak, but they left it on a losing skid and can now only hope they receive some help to make the postseason. The Philadelphia Flyers were the only team in the Atlantic Division not to win a game this week, as they went 0-1-1 against the Pens and Rangers. Things don’t get any easier for the Flyers over the next week, as they take on a division leader and two teams fighting to make the postseason. The Philadelphia Flyers were embarrassed at the Prudential Center tonight, as they lost to the New Jersey Devils 5-2. Adam Henrique had two goals in a three-point performance and Johan Hedberg earned the win for Jersey with 23 saves, as the Devils notched their first victory in regulation at home since the last time they faced the Flyers on February 15. Patrik Elias and Andrei Loktionov each had a goal and an assist in the win. This was a good week to see how the Philadelphia Flyers stack up against some of the elite teams in the Eastern Conference. The results however, were not good. The Flyers, now losers of three straight, will look to find any kind of way to get back on track and win some games going forward of they will be golfing in May instead of playing Stanley Cup Playoff hockey.
