Draft Eligibles: Ryan Pulock (WHL)

Although it may be cold outside and the NHL has just begun it’s never too early to take a look at upcoming draft eligible players for the 2013 draft, which will be held up the turnpike in Newark. This week I’m taking a look at defenseman Ryan Pulock of the WHL’s Brandon Wheat Kings. In 43 games played thus far for Brandon, Pulock has 10 goals, 27 assists good for 37 points. He is also a plus 2 on the season. Pulock did miss two weeks in early January this year with bone chips in his wrist. That injury should …

Simmonds Hurt in Flyers’ Third Straight Loss

The Philadelphia Flyers dropped their third straight game on Friday night in Washington against the Capitals by the score of 3-2. Wojtek Wolski had the eventual game-winner for the Caps, while Nicklas Backstrom had a goal and an assist in the victory. Braden Holtby had 31 saves for Washington, as the only two Flyers to beat him on the night were Bruno Gervais and Brayden Schenn. Ilya Bryzgalov had yet another strong performance, but he suffered another loss, as he made 23 stops on the night. The biggest incident in the loss for the Flyers was John Erskine’s hit on Wayne …

The Cap impacts and “recapture” risks of the Luongo rumor

Before I even begin to get into any financials, I’d like to first point out that I do not personally think there is any merit to rumors involving Roberto Luongo getting traded to the Flyers. I don’t think it makes much sense at all. If Bryzgalov is a long term risk, so is Luongo. With that said, there were some rumblings in the Twitter world from some respected people. Despite some denials, the tweet earlier from @enricociccone is accurate. The Flyers are interested in Roberto Luongo. — james duthie (@tsnjamesduthie) January 10, 2013   Paul Holmgren going in on Luongo big …

Point/Counterpoint: What to expect when you’re expecting a 48-game season

Welcome to the newest edition of “Point/Counterpoint,” where a pair of Flyers Faithful scribes present both sides of one particular issue with their own unique view and flair. This week, Nick D. and Bob H. renew their Laurel and Hardy act, trading barbs on what exactly fans will see once the NHL agrees to a fixed number of games to complete the truncated 2012-13 season. Point, Nick: Nail-biting white-knuckling, heart-attack-inducing intensity. Every game, every minute, every point will be huge. Anything can happen. Basically what you can expect is all around great hockey every single night and since it is NHL …
