In this writer’s opinion, the Philadelphia Flyers blew it last week. The team had three games which they should have won, one of which they could have grabbed a point in, and garnered just four points to their names and worse, they scored just seven goals in the process. To come out the way they did against the lowly Florida Panthers, is just unacceptable. To need overtime and the shootout to win a game against the Nashville Predators is similarly unacceptable. Mason leads Flyers to 3-2 shootout decision over the Predators in Nashville

Steve Mason is usually one of the best players for the Philadelphia Flyers game in and game out, but Philly’s goaltender was extremely strong tonight in the Flyers’ 3-2 shootout win on the road against the Nashville Predators. Mason denied 34 of the Preds’ 36 shots in regulation and overtime before he made a pair of superb saves in the shootout to grab Philly the additional point. Vincent Lecavalier was the lone skater to convert in the shootout, while Claude Giroux and Sean Couturier beat Marek Mazanec in regulation. Detroit’s power play hurts Flyers, Philly loses 5-2

The Philadelphia Flyers lost for the fifth time this season tonight in Detroit, as they lost to the Red Wings by the count of 5-2. Niklas Kronwall had a goal and two assists and Henrik Zetterberg had two goals and one assist, while Daniel Alfredsson had three helpers in the win for Detroit. Jimmy Howard stopped 32 shots for the win, while his team produced three goals on the power play.
