The Philadelphia Flyers fired coach Peter Laviolette after a loss last Sunday to the Carolina Hurricanes. They promoted Craig Berube to head coach. Since then, they are 1-2-0, as they beat the Florida Panthers on Tuesday, but lost to the Phoenix Coyotes and the Detroit Red Wings, and have scored just five goals in that span. Berube wants to institute a more defensively conscious system, with emphasis on positional play, puck support, all while playing an uptempo, skating heavy game. Report: Flyers Fire Head Coach Peter Laviolette

Photo via BigBadBlog.com The jar of jam has officially run out, only three games into the 2013-14 campaign, as reports say Flyers head coach Peter Laviolette has been fired. Assistant Coach Craig Berube is expected to take his place. TSN’s Darren Dreger also reports that Assistant Coach Kevin McCarthy was also let go, and will be replaced by former player Ian Laperriere. Lappy had been an amateur scout with the team since retiring in 2012. Ian Laperriere and John Paddock expected to assist Berube.
