Sean Couturier’s goal late in the contest gave the Flyers a 3-2 win over the New York Islanders tonight in Long Island. The rookie’s eighth goal of the season gave him his third straight game with a tally, as the Flyers earned their fourth win in their last five games. In a lineup that boasts Brad Richards, Marian Gaborik, and Ryan Callahan, it was Mike Rupp who hurt the Flyers most, as he scored a pair of goals in the Rangers 3-2 at Citizens Bank Park in the 2012 Winter Classic on a blustery Monday afternoon. Claude Giroux returned in emphatic fashion tonight from a four-game absence due to a concussion, totaling a goal and three assists as the Philadelphia Flyers took a 4-1 decision over the Stars in Dallas on Wednesday. Despite allowing a goal 56 seconds after the start of the game, Sergei Bobrovsky shut out the Stars for the remainder of regulation in a 30-save victory as the Flyers halted a two-game losing streak.
