Flight Plan: Week of 11.21.2010

Flight Plan is a column that will take a more in depth look at the Flyers’ upcoming opponents every week here at Flyers Faithful. All good things must come to an end and so did the Philadelphia Flyers’ run of gaining at least a point in the standings over 10 games in a three-zip loss to the Montreal Canadiens, which was also the first time the Flyers high-powered offense failed to find the back of the net this season. During those 10 games the Flyers went 9-0-1, scored 44 of their 75 goals on the season, and limited their opponents …

Flight Plan Week of 11.14.2010

Flight Plan is a new column that will take a more in depth look at the Flyers’ upcoming opponents every week here at Flyers Faithful. The Flyers are playing a similar brand to the type of hockey they were playing when they started the Stanley Cup Playoffs last year. “The morning after” is a review of the previous night’s Flyers’ game which, in theory, provides a more objective perspective on the game. In the four days that the Flyers were off, players were bag skated, the team worked on the power play, and they had plenty of time to rest so that they could come out hard against the Anaheim Ducks, a team that stumbled out of the gate this season. Today’s question is: What will be the effect of a full season under Laviolette? Sarah Baicker: The Flyers were playing a game of catch-up for much of last year, after Peter Laviolette took over …

“No, No, No, By All Means, Kill the Whelp…”: Bobrovsky Steals Win In Pittsburgh, But What Does It All Mean?

“And I suppose, in return, you want me to not kill the whelp.” “No, no, no, by all means, kill the whelp… Just wait for the opportune moment.” If you’ve seen Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl you recall this little conversation between Barbossa, played by Geoffrey Rush, and Jack Sparrow, played by Johnny Depp. Throughout the movie, Jack Sparrow shows himself to be great at manipulating people and swindling them into doing what he wanted them to do because they thought he was on their side. Cap’n Jack was scheming, shifty, sly, and smart… …
