I know some people care about the rules and regulations within the CBA more than others. One thing is for sure though, these rules and regulations directly impact the team that can be put on the ice. To me, that makes it fascinating! Some of the topics are quite simple, while others are very complex. Heck, Paul Holmgren doesn’t even seem to understand it all. Surgery list finally revealed

After what seemed like an interminable wait, Flyers General Manager Paul Holmgren finally released the list of players who will require/already underwent offseason surgeries: Wayne Simmonds – Had surgery to repair broken left index finger. Recovery time is 4-to-6 weeks. Matt Carle – Had surgery to repair torn stomach muscle. Recovery time is 4-to-6 weeks. Claude Giroux – Had surgery on his right wrist to repair torn cartilage and surgery on his left wrist to remove bone spurs. Recovery time is six weeks. Kimmo Timonen – Will have surgery next week to remove a disc fragment from his lower back. …

1. Pick a new team to watch for the remainder of the playoffs. 2. Cry 3. Reassure yourself that it’s a rebuilding year and they did damn well to get as far as they did. 4. Cry 5. Remind yourself that they beat their rivals. 6. Cry 7. Whine about the referees all through the playoffs. 8. Cry 9. Take a deep breath and pray the offseason isn’t as traumatic as the last one. 10. Buy some tissues. It’s okay to cry a little.

In his first few weeks as General Manager of the Philadelphia Flyers, Paul Holmgren made a handful of trades in an attempt to pull Philly out of last place in the NHL. With the Orange and Black in the midst of a seven-game losing streak to drop to a record of 8-21-4, Holmgren pulled the trigger on his fourth deal in office.
