Now Boarding: Finally the National Hockey League’s brand of professional ice hockey will be back where it belongs: on the ice, in the arenas, in front of the fans in those buildings and at home. Trenton Update: 1/4-1/10

The Trenton Titans’ two-game skid turned into a five-game losing streak this week, as the squad dropped all three games on their schedule with a record of 0-2-1. Just as the Flyers’ ECHL affiliate gained a lot of ground in the Eastern Conference with a winning streak a few weeks ago, the team dropped right out of the playoff picture with a losing streak, as Trenton sits 12th in the conference at the moment. Point/Counterpoint: What to expect when you’re expecting a 48-game season

Welcome to the newest edition of “Point/Counterpoint,” where a pair of Flyers Faithful scribes present both sides of one particular issue with their own unique view and flair. Trenton Update: 12/28-1/3

The Trenton Titans saw their five-game win streak and their seven-game point streak snapped this week, as the squad lost a pair of games to the Conference-leading Reading Royals. Although the Titans managed to eke out an overtime victory last Thursday against their division rival, Trenton lost back-to-back contests to Reading on Friday and Saturday to suffer consecutive losses for the first time since December 8-9. Friday’s setback was nearly a spectacular comeback, as the Titans lost 5-4 at the Sovereign Center. Stephen Schultz registered his 10th goal of the season and assisted on two others for his second three-point performance …

Then and Now: Nolan Baumgartner

After the New York Islanders picked Brett Lindros ninth overall in the 1994 NHL Draft, the Washington Capitals selected defenseman Nolan Baumgartner. The four players picked after the Canadian d-man were former San Jose Shark and New Jersey Devil Jeff Friesen, Wade Belak, Mattias Ohlund, and Ethan Moreau. All four of those players turned out to play more seasons in the NHL than Baumgartner, who totaled 10 years at hockey’s highest level. Baumgartner suited up for the Caps, Chicago Blackhawks, Vancouver Canucks, and the Pittsburgh Penguins before he became a member of the Philadelphia Flyers in 2006. The blue liner signed …
