Trenton Update: 12/14-12/20

The Trenton Titans started to climb out of the ECHL’s Eastern Conference cellar this week by winning three of their four contests. In addition to the six points they gained in their three victories, the Titans earned a point in their only loss this week, which came in an overtime defeat at home. Trenton also showcased their offensive abilities by scoring 18 goals over the four-game span, as they potted at least four goals in each tilt. The Titans look for more points this week when they take on the team at the bottom of the Eastern Conference, a team …

A look back at the Vitale hit on Briere and the conceptions behind finishing games

I originally wrote this article back in April, at another time and place under the title “Orange-Colored Glasses”, and I wanted to bring it here to Flyers Faithful for some actual hockey talk amidst all of this lockout excitement. I’ve edited it slightly so it makes a bit more sense being that it’s referencing a game nine months ago. I write this knowing full well it probably won’t be very popular, and most people will probably disagree with me. The first six picks in the 2000 NHL Draft were players who played several years in the league and enjoyed either popularity or notoriety. The group of Rick DiPietro, Dany Heatley, Marian Gaborik, Rostislav Klesla, Raffi Torres, and Scott Hartnell are recognizable names across the NHL for several reasons. The blue liner played all his games in the NHL with the Philadelphia Flyers, as he never suited up for the team that drafted him. Jonsson appeared in a string …

But, we realize that all of you hockey fans aren’t into Christmas, so we’ve named it after the man nicknamed Orange Jesus and called it Claudemas. On the seventh day of Claudemas, Flyers Faithful gave to me… seven memorable Game 7s in Flyers history. 7. Sabres, 2011 In the first round of the 2010-11 playoffs, the Flyers faced the Buffalo Sabres in their first …

Trenton Update: 12/7-12/13

Although the Trenton Titans lost all three of their games this weekend to extend their losing streak to four, they managed to pick up a pair of points to gain a little ground in the standings. The Titans have only won one of their last seven contents, as their lone victory came in a high-scoring shootout. With seven losses in their last nine games, Trenton hopes a four-game homestand this week starts to point them in a positive direction. The Titans dropped their first contest last weekend at the North Charleston Coliseum by a score of 3-2 in overtime on …
