Flight Plan: Buckle Up and Buckle Down

Last week was a rough week. The Philadelphia Flyers lost a game in which they carried a 2-0 lead into the third period over the Anaheim Ducks, became the laughing stock of the entire NHL in a game against the Washington Capitals when they were blown out by a score of 7-0, and won a game 1-0 against the New Jersey Devils. I’d like to touch on the events of November 1st. This team needed something. I’m not of the school of thought that fighting in hockey is a bad thing. I think it’s great for the game, especially because …

Hockey Hilarity: Taylor Hall Disagrees

This week’s hockey hilarity is about something that happened a little over a week ago. During the pre-game warm up for game three of the Stanley Cup Final, Boston Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chara fell and took out Milan Lucic. It was pretty dangerous and hilarious, but mostly for a different reason, here’s the video: Last year, Edmonton Oilers forward Taylor Hall fell after stepping on a puck in warm ups: And well: People getting seriously injured is rarely, what I would call, funny, but in this case, Taylor Hall made it so by responding to a tweet sent out by …

Atlantic Watch: 2/22-2/28

The end of their four-game road trip wasn’t pretty for the Flyers, as their only two points came in a shootout win against the Calgary Flames on Saturday night. With a pair of shutout losses, the Flyers have now been shut out five times this season. The Flyers hope two games against Eastern Conference teams below them in the standings will help them gain ground in a fight for home-ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs. On Thursday, the Flyers failed to put a puck past Devan Dubnyk a single time in a 2-0 loss against the Edmonton Oilers. Taylor …
