Atlantic Watch: Flyers add Huskins and Rosehill, Pens’ streak ends, Islanders sit in eighth, Rangers add Clowe

The Philadelphia Flyers fought hard this week to stay in the playoff hunt, but a laundry list of injuries is only going to make things more difficult for the Orange and Black to reach the postseason. With a depleted defense and the loss of a key energy forward, Philly will need to grab a handful of points against three teams in the playoff picture and one looking to crack the Eastern Conference’s top eight. The Flyers started the week with a 4-3 shootout loss to the New York Islanders in Philly on Thursday. Josh Bailey beat Ilya Bryzgalov on the …

Atlantic Watch: Flyers’ long break, Penguins extend lengthy winning streak, Rangers grab eighth place, Brodeur returns

The Philadelphia Flyers didn’t help their case to make the 2013 postseason this week, as they only earned two points over three games. To make matters worse, the Orange and Black will endure a five-day break to let the other teams in the Eastern Conference catch up with them in games played. After their lengthy break, the Flyers play a game in Pittsburgh before starting a five-game homestand against another Atlantic Division club fighting to make the playoffs. Stamkos and Lindback help Bolts edge Flyers in Tampa Bay

The Philadelphia Flyers lost another pivotal game tonight in Tampa Bay, as the Lightning handed the visitors a 4-2 loss. Unfortunately, they haven’t put themselves in a much better position by allowing the Devils a point in that game, but still, two points are two points. There has been much positive to take away from the Flyers’ current slide. They’ve been mired in a 5-5-0 run and have lost four of their last six games. At the very least, the team played …

Flight Plan: Southeastern Hospitality

The Philadelphia Flyers kicked off their first home stand with a bang, beating the Carolina Hurricanes by a score of 5-3. Despite a lackluster third period, the Flyers were able to hold on for their third win of the 2013 season as Danny Briere, Braydon Coburn, Kurtis Foster, and Mike Knuble all netted their first goals of the year. The Orange and Black will strive for more consistency this week as they will play host to three Southeast Division teams after their second two-day break in a week. The Flyers face the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday, the Florida Panthers on Thursday, …
