The Philadelphia Flyers saw their four-game win streak snapped today in Winnipeg with a 4-1 loss to the Jets. Evander Kane and Bryan Little each had a goal and an assist, while Blake Wheeler registered two assists in a four-goal second period for the Jets. Ruslan Fedotenko was the lone Flyer to beat Ondrej Pavelec, as the goaltender made 30 saves for the win. Ilya Bryzgalov made 12 saves on 16 shots against before being pulled after the conclusion of the second period. The Philadelphia Flyers are feeling a little bit better about themselves today as they beat the Boston Bruins yesterday by a score of 3-1. Despite losing three of their last four games, they gained a point in two of them and are currently just four points out of the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. This week will see them host the Washington Capitals and Montreal Canadiens, before travelling north to visit the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Winnipeg Jets. The Philadelphia Flyers have just one win through four games of a six game road trip. To say that the Flyers aren’t very good on the road is an understatement at this point, as they have the worst record in the NHL away from home at 2-8-0. They’ve also been away more than any team in the Eastern Conference, so there is some comfort in that at least, that they will eventually get even this schedule out with some games within the familiar confines of the Wells Fargo Center. After a four game home stand which saw them earn seven of a possible eight points, the Philadelphia Flyers start a five game road trip Monday night. The Philadelphia Flyers acquired defenseman Mattias Timander late in January of 2004 from the New York Islanders in exchange for a seventh-round pick in the 2004 NHL Draft. The Isles used the Flyers’ draft pick, which Philly obtained by swapping a pair of picks with the Tampa Bay Lightning at the 2003 draft, to draft defenseman Chris Campoli, who played in 233 games for New York before also playing for the Ottawa Senators, Chicago Blackhawks, and Montreal Canadiens. After two high-scoring affairs earlier in the season, the Flyers lost 2-1 in a shootout to the visiting Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday, as both teams buckled down for a more defensive game this time around. Bryan Little was the only player to score in the shootout, as the Jets’ forward gave Winnipeg the additional point with the final shot in the third round. Chris Thorburn tallied and Ondrej Pavelec made 27 saves during regulation for the win, as the Jets ended their three-game losing streak.
