Second-period burst sends rested Bruins past Phantoms

Niklas Svedberg stopped 43-of-45 shots, as the Adirondack Phantoms were denied their chance at a season-high winning streak thanks to a 4-2 setback against the Providence Bruins at a packed Glens Falls Civic Center on Friday night. Lane MacDermid and Jordan Caron scored within a span of 3:31 in the second period, while Chris Bourque added an insurance tally for the Baby B’s (16-10-2), who had the luxury of a day’s rest since their Thursday game in Portland was cancelled due to weather. Trenton Update: 12/21-12/27

All that separates the Toledo Walleye, the team sitting fifth in the Eastern Conference, and the Evansville IceMen, who sit last in the Eastern Conference, is 10 points. With that being said, a team that was in the Trenton Titans’ position of being out of the playoff picture can quickly change with a string of wins. Future Flyers Report: 12/24

Marcel Noebels was picked 118th overall by the Philadelphia Flyers in the fourth round of the 2011 NHL Draft and holds the distinction of being the only German forward Philly has ever drafted, as Dennis Seidenberg is the franchise’s only German blue liner ever selected when he went in the sixth round back in 2001. In his first season as a professional, Noebels is …

Trenton also showcased their offensive abilities by scoring 18 goals over the four-game span, as they potted at least four goals in each tilt. The Titans look for more points this week when they take on the team at the bottom of the Eastern Conference, a team …

Future Flyers Report: 12/17

A pair of forwards in the Philadelphia Flyers’ system were injured this week, as both Ben Holmstrom and Andrew Johnston suffered setbacks. Holmstrom, the team’s captain, left the Phantoms’ December 8 game against the Syracuse Crunch, which turned out to be a 4-3 shootout victory, due to an injury to his knee. It was announced on Saturday that the forward will undergo surgery on his right knee this Thursday. He is expected to miss a large part of the season, but there still is a chance he returns before the end of the year. He may not boast the most …
