Earlier this week the Philadelphia Flyers’ organization signed Kyle Flanagan, a forward that recently completed his senior year at St. Lawrence University, to a one-year entry-level contract. The 24-year-old, who finished second on St. Lawrence’s squad with 47 points in 35 games and was named a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award, will join the Adirondack Phantoms on an amateur tryout contract for the remainder of the 2012-2013 regular season. In his first two games with Adirondack Flanagan had two helpers. In the ECHL, forward Shane Harper had a weekend to remember, as he helped the Trenton Titans go 3-0-0 while …

Flyers Hockey: The Organization

Ask anyone who is affiliated with the Philadelphia Flyers, and they will tell you that the organization is good to its players, both current and former. For proof, look no further than the team’s front office. Bobby Clarke, the longtime face of the organization while a player, is the team’s Senior Vice President. Dave Brown and Derian Hatcher both hold player personnel positions, while Craig Berube is an assistant coach. And former players Riley Cote and Terry Murray both now hold coaching positions with the Adirondack Phantoms, the Flyers’ AHL affiliate. Have you missed a Bernie Parent signing? No worries. …

Atlantic Watch: Flyers’ long break, Penguins extend lengthy winning streak, Rangers grab eighth place, Brodeur returns

The Philadelphia Flyers didn’t help their case to make the 2013 postseason this week, as they only earned two points over three games. To make matters worse, the Orange and Black will endure a five-day break to let the other teams in the Eastern Conference catch up with them in games played. After their lengthy break, the Flyers play a game in Pittsburgh before starting a five-game homestand against another Atlantic Division club fighting to make the playoffs. The Flyers’ week started with a 5-2 loss to the New Jersey Devils at the Prudential Center on Wednesday. In the first game …

The Orange and Black had the Pittsburgh Penguins beat on Monday, but they let their hated rivals come back for a 5-4 win at the Wells Fargo Center on Thursday. Jakub Voracek had two power-play goals and the tandem of …

Future Flyers Watch: The OHL playoff picture

With all 20 of the teams in the OHL having played 64 or more of their 68 regular season games, the playoff picture is practically set. The Gens sit third in the conference and sit four points behind the Belleville Bulls, who …

Philly started the week with a 4-1 win over the Washington Capitals at the Wells Fargo Center on Wednesday. Claude Giroux scored just 23 seconds in and Wayne Simmonds converted on a power-play chance a little over four minutes into …

Future Flyers Report: Stolarz and Alderson Sign, Wahl Added

The Philadelphia Flyers signed a pair of Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds to entry-level contracts this week. One of those was expected, as goaltending prospect Anthony Stolarz inked a deal. The other signing wasn’t, as forward Brandon Alderson also joined the organization. Stolarz continues to impress in the OHL with the London Knights. With three wins this week, Stolarz extended his winning streak to seven straight starts and improved his record to 11-2-1 with the Knights. During this personal winning streak, Stolarz has produced three games where he has allowed one goal against or less and two games where he allowed …
