The Philadelphia Flyers were able to extend their point streak to four games this week, as they earned a shootout loss to the Florida Panthers and an overtime win over the Carolina Hurricanes. Although they were dominated in Toronto, the Orange and Black did a good job of rebounding to earn their second road win of the year last night in Winnipeg. The Flyers continue their road trip with three of their six games away from the Wells Fargo Center coming in the next seven days. The Philadelphia Flyers seem to heading in the right direction after they recorded wins in their last two games. After they lost both the game and a crucial player on Friday, the Orange and Black pulled off back-to-back wins in their last two contests. The Flyers start a four-game week tomorrow, as they finish the seven-day stretch with a pair of games that start a lengthy road trip. On Friday, the Washington Capitals handed Philly a 3-2 loss at the Verizon Center. The Philadelphia Flyers started the week with a pair of wins, but a pair of lackadaisical efforts led to two losses where they were outscored 7-2. The Orange and Black find themselves at the bottom of the division with a trio of meetings against Southeast Division opponents over the next seven days. It was a case of deja vu for the Phantoms as Albany Devils left winger, Joe Whitney, scored two goals for the second time in one week resulting in a Devils 4-1 victory over the Phantoms at the Glens Falls Civic Center in front of 4,633 fans. Whitney’s pair combined with goals from Matt Anderson and Darcy Zajac gave the Devils (16-14-9) an easy win as Keith Kinkaid made 26 saves. The Trenton Titans’ losing streak reached seven games before they pulled off an overtime winner on Wednesday morning against the Reading Royals. The Philadelphia Flyers’ affiliate only grabbed one point over the 0-6-1 stretch, as their last two wins have come in overtime against the Royals at Sun National Bank Center. The Titans will be in New York tonight before they travel home to host a pair of games against the leaders of the North Division. Shane Harper signed an entry-level contract with the Philadelphia Flyers in March of 2010 after an impressive season with the Everett Silvertips of the Western Hockey League. After he potted 42 goals, an Everett Silvertips record for most goals by a player in a single season, and 38 assists for 80 points in 72 games, Harper joined the Adirondack Phantoms for five games during the 2009-2010 campaign and scored his first goal as a professional in that time. All that separates the Toledo Walleye, the team sitting fifth in the Eastern Conference, and the Evansville IceMen, who sit last in the Eastern Conference, is 10 points. The Trenton Titans started to climb out of the ECHL’s Eastern Conference cellar this week by winning three of their four contests. In addition to the six points they gained in their three victories, the Titans earned a point in their only loss this week, which came in an overtime defeat at home. Despite the fact that the Trenton Titans allowed 12 goals in their pair of games this past weekend against the Elmira Jackals — the Ottawa Senators’ affiliate — the Titans managed to split the series at the Sun National Bank Center.
