NHL Announces 11 Award Winners

The National Hockey League announced some of the winners of this year’s awards today. In a slightly different setting than the past few years, they did so in a low-key panel show starting at 5:00 PM on the NHL Network.  In previous years, they had a large show in Las Vegas that felt more like the Grammy’s. Today the winners of the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy, Frank J. Hockey Hilarity: Ovechkin for Tocchet and Peanuts

Friday funnies brought to you straight from hockey’s own players, media personnel, and broadcast botches. We’ll be mucking it up every week right here, examining puck ups, puns, tweets, and more! The Washington Capitals were, as per usual, eliminated from the playoffs. Also, as per usual, Alex Ovechkin was not a factor. Atlantic Watch: Flyers’ long break, Penguins extend lengthy winning streak, Rangers grab eighth place, Brodeur returns

The Philadelphia Flyers didn’t help their case to make the 2013 postseason this week, as they only earned two points over three games. To make matters worse, the Orange and Black will endure a five-day break to let the other teams in the Eastern Conference catch up with them in games played. After their lengthy break, the Flyers play a game in Pittsburgh before starting a five-game homestand against another Atlantic Division club fighting to make the playoffs. The Flyers’ week started with a 5-2 loss to the New Jersey Devils at the Prudential Center on Wednesday. In the first game …
