Rumor mill: Dan Boyle and, yet again, Bobby Ryan

The most glaring hole on this Philadelphia Flyers roster is the lack of a true number one defenseman.  According to Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal and Tim Panaccio of CSNPhilly.com, Dan Boyle is on the trade block and the Philadelphia Flyers are interested. “If, however, the San Jose Sharks are willing to trade the 36-year-old Boyle, who has a year left on his six-year, $40 million contract with a whopping $6.6 million cap hit, the Flyers have interest” Panaccio wrote. And Matheson stated, “He’d be excellent in Philadelphia, where the Flyers are crying for offence, but again, his age …

Podcast Episode 57: Twirling, Twirling, Twirling!

On this edition of the Flyers Faithful podcast, Steve and Hal talk about the Flyers’ descent into the bowels of the Eastern Conference and whether they should make a playoff push or suck for Seth Jones (#suckforseth). They also talk about the Flyers matchups with the Devils and Lightning, Corey Perry’s new contract with the Ducks, potentially trading for Jay Bouwmeester or Jaromir Jagr, potentially buying out Danny Briere and Ilya Bryzgalov, Sergei Bobrovsky’s play in Columbus, and lose their minds once and for all. Every year, due to the influence of Ed Snider and the hustling of Paul Holmgren, the Flyers …

Help Wanted

Here we are, Flyers fans. Offers to Ryan Suter and Zach Parise were procured and rejected, thankfully. A mega offer sheet to the tune of 14 years and $110 million dollars was matched by Nashville for all-world defenseman Shea Weber — a contract so large that it could cripple the Nashville franchise if they don’t sell out every game and make a deep playoff run. So what do the Flyers do now? More specifically, what does Paul Holmgren do now? We knew before that Homer has marbles (see “Mike Richards and Jeff Carter, trades of”). We know Homer’s cajones got …
