The Man Behind the Masks: Fran Drummond

Have you ever drawn or painted something? Have you ever spent countless, tireless hours on a piece of art? Have you ever, after all your hard work, creativity, blood, sweat, and tears had been put down onto a piece of paper felt that feeling of finality or release? Have you ever done that knowing full well that your art was going to be a moving target for pieces of rubber travelling at speeds of over 100 miles an hour? Fran Drummond does this all the time. RICE & MICE: Stick to hockey, Mr. Recchi

Almost 3 weeks later and I still can’t watch the replay of Boston Bruins’ captain Zdeno Chara’s check on Montreal Canadiens’ forward Max Pacioretty without holding my breath. It was a violent hit and one that will stay fresh in my memory for a while. Pacioretty lost consciousness on impact and in the few seconds that he lay motionless on the ice after impact, I’m sure a few thousand fans (at least) were hoping that they didn’t just see a man die on the ice. The opening minutes saw a lot of action in the Flyers’ defensive zone. However, Kris Versteeg helped the Flyers get on the scoreboard first. …

Flight Plan week of 03.27.2011

Two out of three ain’t bad… If you win that is.   Unfortunately for the Philadelphia Flyers, they lost two of their three games this past week as they continue to struggle with consistency issues within games and positionally. The Flyers, as a team, played one of their better games in the second half of the season against the Washington Capitals, however the performances by both starting goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky and relief goaltender Brian Boucher were lackluster to say the least. Still, the Orange and Black were able to skate off the ice with one of the two available points to …
