The Philadelphia Flyers entered this week on a winning streak, but they left it on a losing skid and can now only hope they receive some help to make the postseason. With four of their final nine games coming up in the next week, the Orange and Black will likely find out if they will be heading to the playoffs by April 17th. The Philadelphia Flyers were the only team in the Atlantic Division not to win a game this week, as they went 0-1-1 against the Pens and Rangers. Things don’t get any easier for the Flyers over the next week, as they take on a division leader and two teams fighting to make the postseason. After a six-day break, the Flyers dropped a 2-1 overtime decision to the Pittsburgh Penguins at the CONSOL Energy Center on Sunday. Tyler Kennedy, who missed the Pens’ game against the New York Islanders due to being sick, ripped one over Ilya Bryzgalov’s right shoulder with 2:27 left …

Rick Nash had two goals, one of which was his 300th in the NHL, and an assist, while Derek Stepan had three assists to bolster a career-high four-point performance as the New York Rangers dumped the Philadelphia Flyers, 5-2, on Tuesday at the Wells Fargo Center. Brad Richards and Chris Kreider also lit the lamp. Henrink Lundqvist cast his spell once more, making 32 saves as New York picked up a crucial road win in its own race for the postseason. After having five days off, the Philadelphia Flyers will now play five games over the next eight days as they attempt to claw their way back into the playoff picture. As of today, Philadelphia is just three points out of the bottom of the Eastern Conference and five points out of the eighth and final playoff spot.
