Flyperbole: Rumor Ruminations on Max Pacioretty, 2015 Winter Classic

MAX POWER The New York Post’s Larry Brooks dropped a bomb on the rumor world on Sunday morning, claiming that the Montreal Canadiens are willing to trade left winger Max Pacioretty. According to Brooks, the 25-year-old winger “apparently isn’t Michel Therrien’s ideal”. This strikes most people as crazy talk, mainly due to the fact that Pacioretty has a great six-year, $27 million contract, with a cap hit of $4.5 million a season. So who are the main suitors for Pacioretty? None other than the Islanders and Flyers. Now, one would think that the Islanders would be done trying to acquire big …

On Brayden Schenn and concussions

Flyers forward Brayden Schenn took a tremendous hit from the Capitals’ Tom Wilson in a recent game that knocked Schenn out of the game and resulted in Wilson being booted. Wilson launched himself into Schenn like a missile. If there wasn’t intent to injure on that hit, you could have fooled me.   It came out yesterday that Schenn is feeling pretty well, other than a stiff neck. Sure, no big deal. He’s going to play in tonight’s game against the Blue Jackets! Flyers doctors said he was good to go without a baseline concussion test. No harm, no foul, …

Wilson’s major allows Flyers to trounce Caps, 5-2 win in Philly

Steve Mason registered the win tonight with 23 saves on 25 shots against, as only Alex Ovechkin and Eric Fehr were the only Caps to deposit the puck in the cage. Braden Holtby had a rough tilt, as he allowed five goals on 35 shots against. …

This time around, the clubs will play in Philly, as the Flyers look to gain confidence against a Caps’ club, which they handed confidence to on Sunday thanks to a horrendous third period. For a team that has been struggling over their last few games, this game is huge for the Flyers in a handful of ways. For one, the comments from Ed Snider following the loss on …

Flyperbole: Rumor Ruminations on Brayden Schenn, Evander Kane, Steve Mason

BRAYDEN BLUSTER During last week’s podcast, we discussed some of the players that the Flyers might try to re-sign once free agency hits in the offseason. The big names are Steve Mason and Brayden Schenn, although Erik Gustafsson, Tye McGinn, Michael Raffl are also in the RFA camp. Steve Downie and Adam Hall will be UFAs. Brayden Schenn is the most curious name of the bunch. He got off to a great start this season, scoring 7 goals before Thanksgiving, but has gone a little cold since. The Flyers can’t decide if he’s a center or a winger. Is he …
