Game 50 Preview: Philadelphia Flyers @ New York Islanders

Philadelphia Flyers (25-19-5) @ New York Islanders (19-24-7), 1:00pm, CSN-Philly/MSG Plus The Philadelphia Flyers may have won two of their last three games and currently be on a three-game point streak, but they need to improve their starts to games if they want to keep gaining ground in the Metropolitan Division. Although they beat the New York Islanders 6-4 in the first game of their home-and-home on Saturday night, the Orange and Black didn’t play good for the first 40 minutes. Thankfully for the Flyers and their fans, the final 20 minutes featured a 14-2 shot advantage for the hosts and …

Game 24 Preview: Philadelphia Flyers @ Tampa Bay Lightning

Philadelphia Flyers (10-11-2) @ Tampa Bay Lightning (15-8-1), 7:30pm, NHL Network/CSN-Philly/SUN Sports The Philadelphia Flyers will look to start another winning streak, and hopefully another lengthy point streak, tonight against the Tampa Bay Lightning in Florida. Although the Orange and Black failed to extend both their three-game winning streak and their seven-game point streak against the Florida Panthers on Monday, they have been given a nice opportunity to bounce back against a Lightning squad that will be dealing with two key injuries. With 14 games under his belt this season, Nick Cousins leads the Phantoms in points with nine.

They’ve now lost two since that win streak, but they are showing some serious promise, thanks to contributions all throughout the roster. One would expect a team’s star players to score points, to lift the rest of the roster up when they’re struggling. Luckily …

After forward Adam Hall and defenseman Bruno Gervais cleared waivers, the team sent them to their AHL affiliate Adirondack Phantoms. General Manager Paul Holmgren also said that defenseman Chris Pronger would be put on long-term injury reserve before the night was over. Flyers will LTIR Pronger tonight, Homer says. Gervais and Hall loaned to Phantoms. — Dave Isaac (@davegisaac) September 30, 2013 It seems likely that the Flyers will tender a contract now to tryout Hal Gill, who may either be …

Hall, Gervais Waived; Trade Incoming?

Photo courtesy of Philly.com When fourth-line center Adam Hall engaged in two fights during last night’s preseason finale vs. the Washington Capitals, we all assumed he was fighting for his job. A little less than 24 hours later, we were assured that was the case when the Flyers put him and defenseman Bruno Gervais on waivers. The Hall move all but confirms that Scott Laughton will be sticking around with the team, but the Gervais move is a little more interesting. Adrian Dater, beat writer for the Colorado Avalanche said last night that there were rumblings of a trade in …
