Jagr And Talbot Score In Return To Pittsburgh, Flyers Win 4-2

Jaromir Jagr saluted the crowd after his second-period goal, while Max Talbot provided the empty-netter as the Flyers walked into the CONSOL Energy Center on Thursday night and strolled out with a 4-2 win. Matt Read put home his 12th of the season late in the second period for the game-winner as Sergei Bobrovsky grabbed the victory with 24 saves. Jordan Staal and Tyler Kennedy scored for the Pens while Marc-Andre Fleury had 19 saves in the Pens’ second loss in December to the Flyers. Atlantic Watch: 12/14-12/20

The last two games for the Flyers haven’t been pretty, but there is good news related to the team’s point-leader. Claude Giroux is expected to make a return in the near future, the earliest being tonight’s game against the Dallas Stars, from his concussion. This is good news considering the status of Chris Pronger, who will not take part in another game at any point this season or for the playoffs. With his team going 2-2-0 in his absence, Giroux’s return will hopefully turn things around for the Orange and Black. As for Philly’s games this week, the Flyers extended their winning …

Atlantic Watch: 12/7-12/13

At this point in time, it looks like nothing can stop the Flyers. After winning their first two games in December last week, the Flyers went 4-0-0 this week winning a pair of games on the road and a pair of games at home. With their wins this week the Flyers are currently on a six-game winning streak, their first six-game winning streak since their undefeated run from October 26-November 6 early last season. Facing two Northeast Division opponents this week before traveling west, the Flyers look to keep their winning ways intact. Claude Giroux intercepted a pass in the defensive zone before depositing it past …

Minor League Update: 12/4-12/10

The Adirondack Phantoms may have lost two games this week, but the club managed to gain three points in the standings by taking part in three one-goal games. After having only one one-goal loss in a regulation or overtime result in their first 21 games this season, the Phantoms have suffered three one-goal losses in their last four games. Unfortunately for Adirondack, their next two games are with teams against which they have gone just 1-3-0. To start the previous week, the Phantoms lost 1-0 in overtime on the road against the Hamilton Bulldogs (the Montreal Canadiens’ affiliate) Tuesday night. Saving the first …

Giroux Nets Third Straight Game-Winner In OT Against Sabres

Providing his third game-winning goal in as many games for Philadelphia, Claude Giroux put home his 16th goal of the season just past the midway point of overtime to hand the Flyers a 5-4 win in Buffalo to cap a rousing contest Wednesday. He also had three assists on the night for a four-point game as Matt Read, Scott Hartnell, and Jaromir Jagr all scored in the second period to turn a Flyers’ 3-1 deficit into a 4-3 lead heading into the third. Ilya Bryzgalov made 20 saves on 24 Sabres’ shots as Ville Leino scored the game’s opening goal in Buffalo’s fourth straight loss …
