Atlantic Watch: 1/11-1/17

The Flyers won two of their three games this week, as they finished the week by handling the free-falling Minnesota Wild. After Sergei Bobrovsky earned the start on Thursday night on Long Island, Ilya Bryzgalov got the call for the last two games of the week making 46 saves on 50 shots against. Philly looks forward to a difficult week, as two of their four games are against division leaders in the Eastern Conference. Flyers Score Three Goals in Second Period, Dominate Wild 5-1

The Philadelphia Flyers returned to home ice on Tuesday night and five different players recorded a goal in their 5-1 rout of the visiting Minnesota Wild. Braydon Coburn netted the game-winning goal in the middle of the second period, while Matt Read and Jaromir Jagr were the only players who had multi-point performances with two-assist games. Ilya Bryzgalov, newly christened as the Number One goaltender, came through and won his third straight home game with a 25-save effort, as the Flyers recorded their first multi-goal victory in 2012. Atlantic Watch: 12/14-12/20

The last two games for the Flyers haven’t been pretty, but there is good news related to the team’s point-leader. Claude Giroux is expected to make a return in the near future, the earliest being tonight’s game against the Dallas Stars, from his concussion. This is good news considering the status of Chris Pronger, who will not take part in another game at any point this season or for the playoffs. With his team going 2-2-0 in his absence, Giroux’s return will hopefully turn things around for the Orange and Black. As for Philly’s games this week, the Flyers extended their winning …

Flight Plan Week of 10.30.2011

The Philadelphia Flyers split their four games this week. After a big win over the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Flyers dropped a bad one to the Montreal Canadiens where they looked all sorts of out of sorts against a team who was desperate for a win. Then, the Flyers continued looking discombobulated up until the end of the second period against the Winnipeg Jets in a crazy 17-goal back-and-forth shoot out at the Wells Fargo Center, the Jets barely getting out of dodge with a win they should have had locked up.
