Tye McGinn made his NHL debut on Tuesday night, as his first four games with the Philadelphia Flyers were impressive. Not only did the forward knock around Kris Newbury in his second game, McGinn registered his first goal in the NHL in the first period of Philly’s 7-1 rout of the Florida Panthers on Saturday. On top of that, McGinn has six hits in his first four contests with the Flyers. Heeter suspended for Saturday outburst
Cal Heeter will miss Sunday’s Trenton game against the Elmira Jackals, and almost certainly more than that after the ECHL handed down a suspension and undisclosed fine for his actions during Saturday’s game against the Wheeling Nailers. Heeter fired a puck over the glass and into the crowd following a Wheeling goal in the early stages of the third period, drawing a game misconduct. Scott Wedgewood was forced to finish the remainder of a 3-2 Nailers victory. The tandem of Matt Germain and Peter Lenes registered all three goals for the visiting Wheeling Nailers, as they handed the Trenton Titans a 3-2 loss last night at the Sun National Bank Center. Germain potted the first two for Wheeling, while Lenes scored the game-winner in the midst of a hectic third period. Peter Delmas posted the 42-save victory, as Scott Wedgewood ended up with the loss despite playing all of 10:50. The Adirondack Phantoms started their stretch of three games in three days on Friday night on home ice, but it was no comfort in a 4-3 loss to the Albany Devils in front of 4,606 at the Glens Falls Civic Center. In the first of four meetings within six games against their northern neighbors, Joe Whitney tallied the go-ahead and insurance goals for the Devils (15-13-7).
