As the beginning of the NHL season nears, several former Philadelphia Flyers, draft picks of the team, and former members of the organization were involved in transactions this week. The biggest news might be the New York Rangers releasing Johan Hedberg, who was with the team on a Professional Try-Out. Hedberg, who was selected 218th overall by the Flyers in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft, has spent the last three seasons with the New Jersey Devils. Then and Now: Mark Cullen

Signed as an unrestricted free agent to a one-year deal, Mark Cullen joined the Philadelphia Flyers in the summer of 2006 after a 29-game stint with the Chicago Blackhawks during the 2005-2006 campaign. After being waived by the Flyers at the beginning of the 2006-2007 season, he played a total of three games for the Flyers and suited up for over 50 games with the Philadelphia Phantoms in his lone season with the Philly organization. Frequent Flyer Miles: Leighton to the KHL, Fritsch will play in Italy, Amorosa commits to Providence College

The biggest news of the week, in terms of where former Philadelphia Flyers went, is Michael Leighton signing in the KHL. The former Flyer did not play a single game as a Columbus Blue Jacket in 2013, as he has joined Donbass Donetsk for the 2013-2014 campaign. Leighton didn’t play a single game for the Flyers in 2011-2012 and only appeared in one game during the 2013 shortened season. Frequent Flyer Miles: Nodl to play in Switzerland, Potulny’s injury results in departure from KHL

We are now at the point of the offseason where the biggest news related to former Philadelphia Flyers has reached Andreas Nodl signing in Switzerland and Ryan Potulny being released from a KHL squad. The list of players who were once linked to the Orange and Black and endured transactions this week is still rather long, but Nodl and Potulny are the only two who actually played a game for the Flyers.
