Captain Patch

The Big C

Leadership, leadership, leadership. It’s a broken record but always up there on the list of things Flyers fans will always want to talk about, second only to the goalie situation. When things are bad, it’s at the forefront of discussion, but when things are good, it fades to the background. The loss of captain Chris Pronger to injury had fans and analysts questioning what the team was going to do as far as replacing him. Would they give the “C” to either Danny Briere or Kimmo Timonen, the alternate captains? Or would they look towards the future and give it …

Chris Pronger is out for the season with post concussion syndrome. After hearing that Pronger was struggling so much with the post concussion syndrome, his presence at the Flyers playoff clinching game is a good sign that he’s possibly feeling better. Then again, …

Point/Counterpoint: On Chris Pronger’s “Knee Virus” and the Flyers’ Keeping Mum on Injuries

Welcome to the newest edition of “Point/Counterpoint,” where a pair of Flyers Faithful scribes present both sides of one particular issue with their own unique view and flair. This week, Kim P. and Craig F. square off over the Flyers’ public communication regarding team injuries. Point: Kim P. Towards the end of last November, the Flyers reported that captain and best defenseman Chris Pronger was battling a virus. It wasn’t a big deal, he just needed some R&R, and he’d be fine. Except he wasn’t fine. The team announced on November 28th that Pronger was to undergo knee surgery and …
